Garren Washington ‘G.W.’ Clontz Jr., 76, of Norwood, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Josh Phillips will officiate and interment will follow at Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Clontz was born on December 1, 1942 in Mecklenburg County to the late Garren Washington Sr. and Sarah Benton Clontz. He was Diesel Truck Mechanic for many years with GMC and a member at Memorial Baptist Church. G.W., along with his wife Linda, built their own home renovating company called Union Investors. They enjoyed buying homes and restoring them to resell or rent. He also enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Ellen C. Costello and his brother Barry Clontz. He is survived by his wife, Linda Long Clontz of the home; children: Amy Robinson and husband Jeff of Stanfield, and David Clontz and wife Loretta of Unionville; two grandchildren: Keegan Callahan and wife Heather, and Blake Ammons and wife Michelle; one great-grandchild, Rylen Cole Ammons; two sisters: Myra Bumgarner of Darlington, SC, and Gay Flowe and husband Art of Fairview, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be made to Memorial Baptist Church for the Children and Youth Ministry: 873 Pee Dee Avenue, Norwood, NC 28128
