Glenn’s Obituary Glenn E. “Oscar” “Woody” Held, 78, of Corder, MO, died Friday, July 26, 2019, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, with Pastor Mark Junkin officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Inurnment with military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2019, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. At Glenn’s request no flowers please. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Lafayette County Cancer Coalition or Harvey Higgins Society in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com Born September 14, 1940, in Higginsville, MO, he was the son of the late Edward Held and Ruth Landwehr Held. He was a 1959 graduate of Higginsville High School. On October 23, 1959, he married Mary Frances Schnakenberg who survives of the home. He lived in Higginsville until 1963, moved to a farm near Corder until 1972, then moved to Corder. He joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve in August of 1963 serving in the 77th Aerial Port Squadron (ARES), retiring in September of 1993 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, receiving many awards and medals. He worked as a truck driver, a farmer and worked in construction, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; a life member of Air Force Sergeant’s Association; life member of The American Legion; member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles; member of Harvey Higgins Historical Society; member of National Rifle Association; member of the Lafayette County Criminal Justice Advisory Committee in 2001 and 2002; a member of Pioneer Trail Regional Planning Commission; and a member of the Transportation Advisory Council for two years. He enjoyed time with his family, going to the lake and spending time with his Air Force buddies. In addition to his wife, Mary Frances, survivors include two daughters, Angela Harger (Gary) of Higginsville and Amy Raney of Corder; one grandson, Dillyn Raney; two step-granddaughters, Brittany Harris (Zach) and Rachelle Snyder (Tristan); two step-grandsons, Nathan Harger and Seth Harger; one step-great-grandson, Gavin Lawson; one step-great-granddaughter, Natalia Snyder; two sisters, Mary Ann Mock and Judy Heimsoth; numerous nieces and nephews; two honorary daughters, LeAnne McGinness and Betty Jacobsen; and one honorary son, Kenton Raney. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Rickey Lawson. Read More
