Freeman John Fohr, 76, of 29758 Burnup Road, Black River, passed away July 1, 2019 at the home of his daughter and son in law, in Henderson, where he was under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County. He was born on September 10, 1942 in Philipsburg, NJ, son of Freeman W. and Mary (Kroshinski) Fohr. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1961. Following school he entered the US Army on March 20, 1964 in Wilkes Barre, PA and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 17, 1967 as SGT. He then served with the Army National Guard where he was a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2002. He then went on to work for FX Caprara as a driver for the next twenty years, retiring in 2018. He was a member of the Watertown and Sackets Harbor Sportsman Club, National Rifle Association, enjoyed shooting, flying model airplanes, and taking long drives all over the North Country. Among his survivors are his beloved daughter and her husband, Stacey L. and Elmer R. Parish Jr., Henderson, four loving grandchildren, Emily, Megan, Brian and Jacob, and friend of many years, Jim Butler and his companion, Laverne Hughes, LaFargeville.. Besides his parents his son Brian Scott Fohr died at birth in 1967. Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. A graveside service with military honors will he held 11 a.m. Monday, July 8 at the Black River Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County 1398 Gotham St. Watertown, NY 13601.
