Frances’ Obituary FRANCES “FRAN” McWHIRTER, age 69 of Hobart, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019. She is survived by son, Joseph McWhirter, sister, Jerrie (late Don) Engel; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Fran went to Sacred Heart Catholic School, where she still kept in contact with classmates. She graduated from Merrillville High School. She retired from BP Amoco with 15 years of service. She was a crane operator at U.S. Steel prior. Fran was a leading pioneer of the social group “Club Rap.” She was heavily involved in Tops organization. Fran enjoyed the sunshine and helping others. She will be remembered for her sense of humor. Family and friends may gather at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 9:30 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 A.M. from Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church (5885 Harrison St., Merrillville).
