Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Ferdinand Thibodeaux, 93. Mr. Thibodeaux, a native and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died Thursday morning, July 25 at his residence. Pastor Patrick Broussard will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Thibodeaux of Church Point; a daughter, Julie McGee of Iowa, LA; a son, Timothy Jude Thibodeaux and wife Tracey of Lawtell, LA; eight grandchildren: Jeremy, Corey, Marcus, Trevor and Justin Thibodeaux; Danielle Viator, Alexis Kelly and John Luke McGee; seven great-grandchildren: Ellorie Doucet and Jake, Katherine, Hadley, Holden and Hudson Thibodeaux and Sophia Viator; a sister, Jean Janise and husband Larry of Sunset, LA; a brother, Kenneth Thibodeaux and wife Norma of Opelousas, LA and two sisters-in law, Leota and Cherlyn Thibodeaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignace and Eula Beaugh Thibodeaux; a son, Dennis G. Thibodeaux; three sisters, Joyce and Verda Thibodeaux and Shirley Jackson; three brothers, Havard, Gale Francis and Joseph Thibodeaux and a son-in-law, Anthony McGee. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday, July 26 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 6:00 P.M. Friday by clergy. A WWII Navy Veteran, Mr. Thibodeaux worked at Daly Motor Co. in Opelousas for some forty years. He loved getting together and spending time with his extended family, fishing, “going to the Casino” and watching LSU and Saints football. Mr. Thibodeaux will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services. The family extends a special “Thank You” to the doctors and staff of Opelousas General and Heart of Hospice.
