Essie Huggins was born on April 18, 1926 in Manning South Carolina to Mary Huggins and James Morris. She was the third sibling out of nine. Essie was schooled mostly at home. She worked on the farms in South Carolina and planted vegetables to harvest and sell. Later she became a baby sitter and helped raised her nieces and nephews. Essie had two son’s Lee Jr. Huggins and Wesley Huggins her boys were the love of her life. As the years passed her second home became Deerfield Beach Florida. Essie was an active member and usher at the First Zion Missioner Baptist Church in Florida. She loved going to church and listening to gossip music. Essie would do her walks twice morning and evening. She would always say I have to go for my walks. Her friends would come by and look for her because she would always be sitting outside enjoying the warm weather. She also like cooking and going fishing. Her third and finally home was Boston. Essie moved to Boston in 2010 after losing her sister Bessie Mae to live with her youngest sister Alice. It took Essie quite some to get used of the cold weather she would wear her gloves in the house .She never really got use of the cold weather. Essie was able to join the Pace Program where she would go mostly during the day. Essie enjoyed going there to do activities coloring and getting her nails done and dressing up with different color hats. . In the mornings she would walk with her walker to get on the van and always like setting in the front seat. Essie’s health became to get bad where she was no longer to care for herself even with the help of her sister Alice. Essie was then put in a Rehab because her health started too declined. Essie was quite in words but very feisty and will be greatly missed especially by her loving sister Alice. Preceding Essie in death were her two sons Lee Jr. Huggins and Wesley Huggins, sisters Sarah Huggins, Mary Huggins, Bessi Mae Majors, Lizzie Mae Daniels, and three brothers Lee Coffe Huggins, Cecil Huggins and Lee Earnest Huggins. Those left to cherish her memories sister Alice Williams of Boston Ma, and host of nieces, nephews and friends from Boston, Ma, Manning South Carolina, and Deerfield Beach Florida.
