Ernest J. Parde, 86, of Beatrice died at the Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center on Monday, July 1, 2019. He was born September 12, 1932 at rural Pickrell and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. He attended Hartzell Country School and served in the United States Army for two years. He married Dorothy Schuster on February 20, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and they lived and farmed near Pickrell. In 1994, they moved into Beatrice. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he sang in the Men’s Choir, had served on the building committee, and chaired the Church Council. He was over a 50-year member of Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion and served as Post Commander and was a member of Geddes Thober Post #1077 of the VFW both of Beatrice. He was a member of the Gage County Agricultural Society, Board of Directors of the Pickrell Co-op, and was a volunteer on the Pickrell Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Beatrice; three daughters, Cheryl (Leroy) Meints of Filley, Glenda (Steve) Knoche of Virginia and Janet (Tim) Gabriel of Holdrege; two sons, Keith Parde of Pickrell and Kent Parde and friend, Deb Johnson of Beatrice; eight grandchildren, Jason, Kyle, Nicole and husband Nick, Haley and husband Pat, Spencer, Jill and husband Jesse, Erica and fiancé Kyle, and Emily and husband Brian; three great-grandchildren, Sean, Dylan, and Lane; two sisters, Lorene Wallman and Mildred (Lawrence) Meints all of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Anna Jurgens Parde; one brother-in-law, Eldon Wallman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell with military rites conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion. A family prayer service will be held 10:15 A.M. on Friday in the church annex. A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church with Darlene Evers and Glennys Lienemann in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Friday. www.foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
