On July 21, 2019 Jonathan Eric Whitener, a loving soul, was taken away from us unexpectedly at home. Some of you may know him as Eric, Bear, Blue, or Big E. Eric was only 33 years old, he was born on February 19, 1986. Eric was a young, loving, and fun spirit who lights the room and did not know a stranger. Eric had a passion for reading, music, all types of sports, and making people laugh. In addition to his mother Donna McKinley of Newton; a sister Kara Whitener of Waynesville; four brothers Chris Whitener of Newton, Matt Whitener of Newton, Elijah Whitener of Waynesville, Isaiah Whitener of Hickory; his grandmother Annie Mae Barnes of Maiden; and his great grandmother Dorothy Whitener of Maiden; also cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a ton of friends survive him. He preceded in death by his father Stevie Whitener. The funeral will be 4:00 pm Thursday July 25th, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Wednesday, July 24th, 2019 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home. His family is asking for donations to help with the unexpected funeral costs. So if you could lend us all a hand in sending Eric off and making our last memory a great memory.
