Eric E. Stelk, 67, of Grand Island passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, with his family at his side. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Marty Egging is the celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a Vigil Service at 7:00. Eric was born April 30, 1952, in Grand Island, the son of Elmer and Delma (Kuhlman) Stelk. He attended District 23 country school in southern Hall County. In 1959, he and his family moved to Merrick County and he attended District #1 Lockwood. Eric graduated from Northwest High School, class of 1970 and in 1974 graduated from Kearney State College with a Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration. In 1973, Eric married Chris Bolin and they raised two sons, Jeremy and Evan. Upon graduating college, Eric entered the banking business with First National Bank. He later worked for Schuppan Sales and Service and the spent the majority of his working years with a career at Five Points Bank. A career he thoroughly enjoyed. In addition to his professional career, he also worked the family farm until his death. Eric was not a man of many hobbies, but was involved in 4H and FFA and FFA Alumni as his sons grew up. He thoroughly enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing where he made many friends. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Platt Duetsche. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jeremy (Kristy) Stelk of Chapman, Evan (Heidi) Stelk of St. Paul; four grandchildren, Katlynn, Kassidy, Elijah and Mikah; brother, Monte (Karla) Stelk of Grand Island; many nieces and nephews and their families; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to Eric Stelk Memorial, which will be placed in a scholarship fund for Northwest High School FFA.
