Eleanor L. Rankin 89 of Enfield passed away Monday July 1, 2019 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born March 1, 1930 in Dahlgren, the daughter of Frank and Mary M. (Anselment) Rost. She married James L. “Jim” Rankin on June 7, 1950 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Piopolis. Eleanor worked 43 years at the Enfield Garment Factory. She was a member of Homemakers Extension, the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary’s, the Red Hat “Jennies” and the Altar Society at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Enfield. She loved bowling and sewing, but most of all, she loved her family. She is survived by her daughters, Carol (David) Weiss, Janis (Ken) Cochran and Judie (Keith) Simmons; nine grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Floann Mitchell and Mary Lou Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; grandson, Robert Cochran; brothers, Edward, John and Leo Rost; sisters, Helen Walk, Lucille Allsbury and Irene Kreher. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Enfield with Fr. Vincent Obi officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until mass time on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the St. Patricks Playground. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of arrangements.
