Edmund’s Obituary Rev. Edmund R. Farrell Sr. 87 of Bridgeton NJ was called home peacefully on Wednesday July 10, 2019 (On his 87th birthday) in Inspira Medical Center Vineland NJ. Rev. Farrell was born in All Saints Village Antigua, British West Indies to the late Irene Farrell, and Charles Theophilus Farrell. Rev. Farrell was the husband of the late Annie Lee Silcott Farrell. Rev. Farrell came to the United States at 19 years old. As a young man he worked for the United State Sugar Company, and the United States Agriculture Department, which allowed him to travel throughout various states within the U.S. Rev. Farrell came to New Jersey from Florida in 1958, where he gained employment from Seabrook’s Farms Inc. In 1963, he became an employee of the Green Giant Company in Vineland N J serving as head cook. During this period Rev. Farrell met and married Charlene Smith. Out of this union came four children. After her death Rev. Farrell became a member of The First Baptist Church of Harrisonville and served as trustee and an ordained deacon. Under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Corsey Sr. Rev. Farrell was called to ministry and served as assistant pastor. He received his biblical training at the Philadelphia College of Bible. Upon Rev. Corsey’s death Rev. Farrell became the pastor of First Baptist Harrisonville. He was ordained by the Permanent Council of Bethany Baptist Association. In addition to his pastoral duties, Rev. Farrell was an active member of his community. He has served as associate minister of Leesburg State Prison for over 40 years, under his ministry, numerous souls have come to Christ and several are ministers today. He was a member of the Trustee board of Bethany Baptist Association where he worked diligently. He was a member of the Youth Services Advisory Council of Cumberland County. He was the founder and CEO of Edmunds & Edmunds Training & Counseling Outreach, he served as President of the Ebenezer Baptist Missionary Union of South Jersey, he has also served as Vice Chairman of the organization. Rev. Farrell was the Pastor of First Baptist Harrisonville for over 40 years. Rev. Farrell had a servant’s heart a genuine passion for people and he always led by example. He lifted spirits and inspired souls everywhere he went. Rev. Farrell was a man with a vision and throughout his life he received many certificates, and awards of recognition for his outstanding community leadership. Rev. Farrell loved to travel and attend church services after he retired. He could always be heard reciting the scripture 2 Timothy 2: 15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of nut h.” Rev. Farrell was a worker always seeking to satisfy the expectations to please God. As we celebrate his life, he will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts. Rev. Edmund R. Farrell leaves to continue his legacy two son’s Oswald Farrell of Antigua, Lesroy Farrell of Pennsylvania, two daughters Marilyn Farrell- Smith (Steven) of Philadelphia, Gloria Farrell of Bridgeton NJ.; nine siblings Olivette Thomas, Alfreda Williams both of Antigua, Molvie Warneri, Ruthlyn Farrell, Wibston Farrell, Icilma Farrell, Janet Farrell, Charlesworth Farrell, and Sonia Farrell all of New York; three sisters in law Elizabeth Baker of Seabrook NJ, Gladys Collins (Marcel) of Bridgeton NJ, Catherine Brance of Newark NJ; a special nephew Taheem Patterson of Bridgeton NJ; two of the foster children that he loved like his own Nate Fowler (Sonya) of Bridgton NJ, Jack Johnson the 3rd (Shawn) of Delaware and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rev. Farrell was predeceased not only by his parents, and wife, but by the mother of his children Charlene Farrell, his son Edmund R. Farrell Jr.; his brothers Kenneth, Glentis, Glentis.
