Dr. Norris’ Obituary NORRIS KNIGHT JR. Dr. Norris Crockett Knight, Junior, was born May 3, 1935 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and departed this life on July 29, 2019. He was lovingly raised by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Norris C. Knight, Sr. Dr. Knight graduated with honors from Greenwood High School in 1953. Member Sigma Alpha Epsilon 1953. Member of Alpha Epsilon Delta 1954 Honors Pre-medical Fraternity. Graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi in 1956. Attended the University of Mississippi School of Medicine 1956-1959 graduating top of class. A third generation physician preceded by grandfather Dr. Samuel Lewis Knight, and father Dr. Norris C. Knight. In 1957 awarded Mosby Scholarship Award. In 1957 honored as the University of Mississippi School of Medicine student guest at the American College of Surgeons. In 1957 inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society. Marshal of ceremony for the graduating class of 1959 University School of Medicine, Internship University Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi. Orthopedic Residency 1960-61, 1963-65. United States ARMY Medical Core 1961-1963, stationed at 121st Evacuation Hospital Eighth U.S. ARMY, Ascom, South Korea. Past Member Bowie and Miller County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, Texas Orthopedic Association, American College of Surgeons. Board Certified American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons Entered Orthopedic practice at Collom and Carney Clinic 1965-2001. Private practice 2001-2013. Served on the Board of Directors Wadley Regional Medical Center 1982-1987. Chairman of Surgery WRMC 1975. Member of Board of Directors American Physicians Insurance Exchange 1967-2008. Chairman of the Board American Physician Insurance Exchange 1999-2008. Member Board of Directors American Physicians Service Group 2008-2011. Religion Christian, Episcopalian. Survived by my loving spouse Jennifer M. Knight. Four daughters; Dana O’Neal and husband Johnny, Leslee Smith and husband Ronnie, Laura Knight, Marian Wakefield and husband Paul. Step-daughters Brittany Keil and husband Daniel, and Lakyn Edwardes. Step-son Christopher Edwardes and wife Emily. Five grandchildren; Justin O’Neal, Dr. Caitlin O’Neal, Graham Norwood, Natalee Norwood, and Jessica Jones. Six step-grandchildren; Aiden, Alli, Phen, Ry, Luci, and Rosemary. Two great-grandchildren Annabelle and Charlotte. The family will hold a private memorial service. Read More
