Dorothy Schwartz of Salem, Missouri passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Salem Seville Care Center at the age of 84. Dorothy was born on October 3, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Earl and Matilda (Modglin) Brooks. At the age of 12, Dorothy moved with her family from St. Louis to Summersville MO where she attended school. Following, she returned to St. Louis to work as a bank teller before later relocating to Summersville where she and Frankie Schwartz courted for a short period, then uniting in marriage on February 11, 1955. From this union they were blessed with five children, enjoying 64 years of memories together. While raising their family, Dorothy worked side by side with Frankie running their business. Attending Calvary Temple Church, she ministered to the community and enjoyed teaching the precious children. In addition, Dorothy enjoyed traveling, studying her bible and spending time with her family while sharing her love for Christ with those around her. Dorothy is survived by her children, Cora Dotson and husband Jim, of Salem, MO, Jamie and wife Shirley, of Salem, MO, and Laura Furmanick and husband Rich, of Raymond New Hampshire; grandchildren, Tera Sue Shaw, Nickie Larson, Matthew Schwartz, Stephanie Mansell, Rhonda Wofford, Nicholas Schwartz and Cache Furmanick; a host of great & great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sons, Tom Schwartz and Danny Schwartz; sister, Doris Sutterfield; two brothers, Cletus Brooks and Albert Brooks. Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Dorothy Schwartz will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Lyndell Decker Officiating. Internment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem with Matthew Schwartz, Austin Larson, Jaidyn Schwartz, Christopher Schwartz, Cody Wofford, and Walter Acord serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers Jim Dotson, Rich Furmanick, Cache Furmanick, Maynard Larson, and Chris Mansell. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
