Monday July 22nd 2019
Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Anders Hough, 87, of Ranson, WV, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Winchester Medical Center. Born February 10, 1932 in Summit Point, WV, she was the daughter of the late Raleigh Gardner Anders and Lillian Willabelle Hinton Anders. She is survived by three sons, Donald Hough and wife Mary Beth of Martinsburg, William Hough and wife Jamie of Ranson and Michael Hough of Linden, North Carolina; two sisters, Evelyn Sprenkle and Gwen Lanham both of Charles Town, and two brothers, Marvin Anders of Mt. Airy, Maryland and Gerald Anders of Marysville, Tennessee and five grandchildren, Derrick, Lisa, Amberly, Trevor and Tucker, four great grandchildren; Haven, Hayes “Bubby”, Diezzel and Kylie.. Her great grandchildren Haven and Hayes were her side kicks, best friends, kept her young. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Allen, Charles and Donald Anders, daughter in-law, Robin Hough and grandson Michael Hough. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, veteran supporter. She worked at the V A Medical Center for 54 years as the Chief of Voluntary services. She often said that she never worked a day in her life because she loved what she did. Many knew her at the VA as the teddy bear lady because she had a large collection of teddy bears in her office. Visitors and co-workers would stop by her office to see them, she was quick to announce that they weren’t for sale. Dottie was raised on a farm which led to her being strong as an ox. She was one of a kind, she was selfless, stubborn, quick to share her opinion if she felt the need. She always put others before herself. Although she will be missed beyond belief, her family finds comfort knowing that she was at peace with her life. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald M. Anders officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday. . To send flowers to the family of Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Hough (Anders), please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
