HOLYOKE: Dorothy Marion (Stevens) Forkey, age 79, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully at her home with family on Saturday, July 20, 2019. A proud lifelong resident of Holyoke, Dorothy was the daughter of the late John K. and Agnes G. (Rohan) Stevens. Dot became a member of the James Stevens family at a young age, and was raised by her beloved Uncle Harold and Aunt Doris Stevens. She was part of a warm, nurturing and loving household that treasured her, and she them. Dot was a 1958 graduate of Holyoke High School and a longtime employee of Holyoke Community College where she worked as the head telephone operator/receptionist, retiring in 2002. After retirement she received several honors, and achieved emeriti status. She was a longtime member of Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in Holyoke. Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband John F. “Jack” Forkey; a brother, John B. Stevens and a brother-in-law, John Paulin. She is survived by two sons, Neil S. Forkey and his wife Roseline of Montreal, Canada & Mark S. Forkey and Nicole Collins of East Longmeadow; four grandchildren; Meghan K., Ryan P., Pierre-Laurent, and Eleonore Forkey; a brother, Robert Stevens and his wife Sandra and a sister, Elaine Paulin. Dorothy’s greatest joy was raising her sons and spending time with them and their families. Her grandchildren have been a special blessing. She enjoyed trips to Ogunquit, ME, and spending time in her home with her faithful companion, her dog Penny. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will be held at a later date in Forestdale Cemetery.
