Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Mathis Byess, age 88 of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered into rest Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Mrs. Byess was born in Jefferson, Georgia a daughter of the late Willie Floyd Mathis and the late Eula Mae DeLay Mathis, was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Oakwood and was a retired seamstress. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byess if preceded by a sister, Hilda Mathis Garrison and a grandson, Heath Beatty. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Anglin and her husband Charles of Pendergrass, and Melissa Byess-Childers and her husband James Mark of Winder. Four grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 27, 2019 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with burial to follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, Georgia. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Chuck Anglin, Alex Stinchcomb, Ken Thomas, Garrison Lovett, Grayson Lovett, Drew Beatty and Jimmy Lovett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
