Doris Eileen Newman-Montoya, 63, was embraced by our Lord Jesus on Thursday, July 18, 2019 surrounded by her family. Doris was born July 2, 1956 in Las Vegas, NM to James B. Newman and Emily E. (Garduno) Newman. She graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1974. She also graduated from Luna Vocational Institute (now Luna Community College) as an LPN. She was a nurse for over 30 years, working at North Eastern Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, Heights General Hospital, Lovelace Westside, 6th Street Clinic and other clinics in Albuquerque, NM. She was united in marriage to Lawrence L. Montoya on April 27th, 1974 in Las Vegas, NM, who preceded her in death July 10, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her fiance Todd Schau on April 25, 2019. She is survived by her children Lawrence Shawn Montoya and wife Caren, Shionee Lee Montoya, and Martin John-James Torres. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jasmine Dixon, Dante Dixon, Isaiah Dixon, and Anthony Dixon of Albuquerque, and Keziah, Kyrion, and Atreyu Montoya of Qatar. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Angelica Shionee Dixon on April 17, 2009. She is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn Flores and life partner Billy Serna of Albuquerque, Patrick Newman and wife Carolyn of San Antonio, TX, Loretta Newman of Santa Fe, and Yvonne M Vigil and husband Sammy Vigil of Albuquerque. She also had several nieces and nephews that will all miss her dearly. Doris was a very warm, caring, loving, and understanding mother, grandmother, sister, Auntie, cousin, and friend. She always put everyone else above herself. She loved butterflies, ladybugs, and Angels. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Cremation will take place and memorial services will be held in August, when her beloved granddaughter graduates from Marine boot-camp.
