Dennis R. Amaral, 72, of New Bedford, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital, in New Bedford. He was the husband of Michele A. (McDermott) Amaral. Born in Memphis, TN, son of Cora Bell (Haynes) Amaral of Wareham and the late Dennis Amaral, he was one of eleven children. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and later worked as a commercial fisherman for many years on various area scallopers. Dennis enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles and watching TV, especially Westerns and the Discovery Channel, he also enjoyed collecting coins. He enjoyed History and wildlife but most enjoyed his time spent with family and the grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Michele; his mother, Cora Bell; children, Matthew and Timothy Plaud, Lisa Allard and Jennifer Baretto; eight grandchildren and many siblings, nieces and nephews. In accordance with his wishes he was cremated and memorial calling hours will be Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 4-7pm, in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, with a service at 5:30pm. Interment will be private.
