Deborah Myers-Copeland November 3 1954 July 21 2019

November 3 1954 July 21 2019
Deborah P. Myers-Copeland, Debbie, or Deb as she was referred to by colleagues, friends, and family made her grand entrance to this world November 3rd, 1954, in Camden, New Jersey. On July 21st, 2019, she received a call, a sort of an offer she couldn’t refuse, for an assignment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus which includes a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time, including her parents the late Robert Thomas Clement and Emma Myers. Deborah “Debbie” Myers was born in Camden, New Jersey, and attended Deptford Township school system. She moved to Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1975, where she as a devoted mother raised her family. She moved to Manalapan, New Jersey in 2009. Deborah was employed as a Corporal for Myers Security and Investigation at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, NJ until her retirement. She was world-renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. It was the school of hard knocks and yes we were told many times how she, known as the baby, her twelve siblings, and mother shared a two room home, so suck it up. With that said she was genuine to a fault, a pussy cat at heart (or lion), and yet so blunt she sugar coated nothing. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. She demonstrated this in conversation with anyone at any moment. She truly said whatever she wanted, when she felt like it, no matter how inappropriate the timing may have been, and yes, you had to love her for it. Debbie enjoyed her talent for creating awkward moments, almost as much as the various hobbies she often partook in. These include gardening which she had a natural green thumb for, unraveling a new ball of yarn to knit, going on long country drives with her family, laying on her bed listening to rainstorms, cooking one of her famous recipes which we’re not going to get started on her sweet potato pie or fried chicken, playing cards and board games which according to her she always won, and exchanging a good story which typically ended in uncontrollable laughter. Her jovial spirit and smile which demanded presence when she entered a room was truly infectious. Her words of encouragement, wisdom, comfort, and sometimes offense kept us in line, taught us life lessons, made us laugh and cry, find strength where we didn’t know how and most importantly gave us something to forever cherish. She is predeceased by her mother Emma Myers, father Robert Thomas Clement, husband Jesse Copeland, daughter Renee, 7 brothers Lawrence ‘Larry’, Samuel ‘Sammy’, James ‘Roe’, Marcellus ‘Nert’, Clarence, Lynn ‘Wayne’ and Terry ‘Doc’, 2 sisters Florence and Rose ‘Candi’ and family dog Rza Wu. She leaves to cherish her memories, 1 son Charles of Jacksonville, Florida, 2 daughters Sheronda and Linda ‘Mickey’ of Neptune, New Jersey, 3 grandsons Kyle ‘Kyledogg’, Jamal and Charles Jr ‘CJ’, 3 granddaughters Dana, Nicole and Ashley. 1 brother Odess (Moo) of Deptford, New Jersey, 2 sisters Wanda ‘Dora’ of Garner, North Carolina and Leona ‘Rome’ Hence of Mantua, New Jersey. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. “They say I have a weak heart, that’s because I have given away so much love.” -Deb To send a memorial gift to the family of Mrs. Deborah Myers-Copeland please visit our Sympathy Store.
