David Edward Andersen, 67, of Plymouth, died Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton, Iowa. Per David’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. David was born July 11, 1951, the son of Daniel and Delores (Smith) Pond, and was later adopted by Ludwig Andersen. He married Cheryl Card on September 27, 1975, in Waterloo and to that union three children were born. A graduate of Waterloo East High School, David served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He later worked most of his career as a front-end and brake mechanic. David enjoyed outdoors while hunting and fishing. His favorite places to fish were on the Mississippi River and Lake Michigan. He also liked watching NASCAR races, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Cheryl Andersen of Plymouth; three children, Regina (Rob Burr) Andersen of Rockwell, Julie (Gary Harms) Andersen of Mason City and Joshua (Kassie Alden) Andersen of Alden, IA; eleven grandchildren, Alexia (Matt), Justin, Racee, Isabella, Trent, Trey, Aidan, Trevor, Emma, Tessa and Kaedan; a great-grandson due in July; two special girls, Aubry and Natalia; and two brothers, Greg Andersen of Elk Run Heights, IA and Denny Andersen of Evansdale, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Gary Pond, Gene Pond, and Carol Gray.
