With profound sadness we announce the passing of Charles Leo Glover, 83, of Millcreek, Utah. He died Friday, July 26, 2019. Charles had Alzheimer’s disease for close to three years. He departed from this world while sleeping peacefully. He was born February 9, 1936, in the Cottonwood Maternity Hospital, in Murray, Utah, to Leo James and Effie Euzina Johnson. The third child of eight children, five girls and three boys. He attended Olympus Junior High, then two years at Granite High and his senior year at Olympus High and graduated from the first graduating class of 1954. He served four years in the Navy, three aboard the USS Nickolas out of Pearl Harbor, and one at Camp Elliot, as a staff member, which was the Naval Prison in San Diego. While in San Diego, he met Virginia Lynn Ashford. He was discharged in August and they traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, where Virginia was from, and they were married September 5, 1958, in the Mesa, Arizona temple. He attended one year of college at Brigham Young and then transferred to the University of Utah for one year. They then moved to Phoenix and he attended Arizona State University and graduated from there in 1964. He later went to The University of Utah and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work. He worked for the State of Utah, Division of Family Services, for thirty-four years. In 1993 he qualified as a Board Certified Diplomat, by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in the church including High Counselor and Bishop of the Canyon Rim First Ward. He was a wonderful, devoted husband to Virginia for the past sixty-one years. Together they raised five children. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jay Leon; two sisters, Lois Maybe and Arlene Knight; and two beautiful daughters, Kerri Lynn Ramirez (Fermin) and Gaylene Bringard (Tim); and a grandson, Jose Daniel Cayama. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lynn; son, Charles Kent (Shauna); daughters, Judy Ann Glover and Jennifer Lee Anderson (Alfred); his brother, Lyle Glover; and sisters, Cleo Chenowith, LuDeen Beckstead, and Linda Johnson; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the care takers at The Ridge at Foothill and Silverado Hospice for their kindness. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00am at the Canyon Rim 1st Ward, 3100 East 3000 South. Friends and family are invited to visit Sunday evening, August 4, 6:00-8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Monday morning 9:30-10:30am prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
