Betty Tison Callier passed away July 19, 2019. Betty was born January 3, 1931 to the late Joseph Daniel and Winnie Davis Moore Tison in Early County, Georgia. Arrangements are by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Northview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Pine Forest United Methodist Church at 11:30 Tuesday, July 23, 2019, with a reception immediately following in the church fellowship hall. Rev. Wes Moye and Dr. Joel Dent will officiate. Betty graduated from Damascus High School in Early County, GA and Massey-Draughn Business College in Montgomery, AL. Before moving to Dublin, she was a secretary in the First State Bank, Albany, GA, where she met her husband, Sonny. She was a stay at home Mom for many years and retired from Georgia Power Company. She was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church, the Lawrence-Smalley Sunday school Class, the Dublin Ladies Golf Association, before it disbanded December 31, 2015, and a former director of the Dublin-Laurens Arts Council. She was a member of the Fairview Park Hospital Auxiliary for many years, until it disbanded. Betty loved her family, her God, and sports, especially golf, tennis, and football. She was named to the All-State Basketball team, having earned that honor in her last year playing the State Tournament for Damascus High School. Betty also loved playing bridge. She had many internet friends, having visited in the homes of some and some having visited in her home. She has been on several cruises with friends of the internet bridge group. She also loved her local bridge friends. She was in two bridge clubs, and was very excited to be invited to play in other clubs. Betty was predeceased by all three of her siblings, Joseph D. Tison, Mable Tison, and Gene Tison. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert H. Callier, Jr. of Dublin; sons, Andy Christo (Becky), of Albany GA, and Harry Callier (Margaret Ann), of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Leann Christo McGalliard, Greg Christo, both of Albany, GA, and Robert T. Callier, of Marietta, GA; great grandson, Davis McGalliard, of Albany, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Betty’s memory may be made, and will be appreciated, to your choice of charities, or to the We Care Fund at Pine Forest United Methodist Church
