Bessie Royer Muirhead August 03, 1935 – July 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card LAFAYETTE ~ Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at a 4:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Bessie Grace Royer Muirhead, age 83, the former Bessie Royer, who passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House in Lafayette. Ms. Muirhead was a native of Cankton and a resident of Lafayette. She was the proprietor of Bessie’s Grocery for over 30 years. After a lifetime of hard work, Ms. Bessie enjoyed her retiremet and loved bourrée with the girls. Survivors include two sons, Robert Muirhead and Bryan Muirhead; grandchildren, Kimberly LaFleur and her husband, David, and Robert “Bobby” “Buster” Muirhead, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Piper and Zeke; nieces, Monica Breaux Crooks and Dawn Breaux Vincent; Godchild, Stacey Breaux Gaskins, and husband, Major Daniel Keith; and numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominique Royer and the former Philomene Babineaux; and sisters, Gloria Theriot and Linda Breaux. A rosary will be prayed by Annette Richard at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time.
