Benno’s Obituary Benno A. Schmidt, age 85, passed away July 9, 2019 in Livonia, Michigan. Benno was born December 30, 1933, Detroit, Michigan, the son of Benno and Ottilia (née Roth) Schmidt. Surviving Benno is his beloved wife, Shirley; siblings, Jerome (Paula) Schmidt, Marcy (John) Luibrand, Louise (the late Dennis) Suchocki, Ralph Pierson and Josie (Lou) Doucette. Sadly, Benno is preceded in death by his brother, Mel (Judy) Schmidt. Benno’s family has arranged for his life to be celebrated with a funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 16, at 10 am (9:30 am instate) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (23815 Power Road, Farmington). Benno will be interred Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm at Oakwood Cemetery. Benno’s family asks those that attend to please wear bright colored clothing to reflect the love for life that both Benno and Shirley shared. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Soup or to a charity of the donor’s choice, whose mission is the support of life, whether that be the support of human, animal or plant life.
