Ava Crumpler Jackson White, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Ava was born in Wayne County, NC on August 10, 1929 to the late Walter Barney Crumpler and Nora Adams Crumpler. She taught typing at her mother’s business school, Crumpler’s Secretarial School. After the school closed, Ava worked as a secretary at Dewey Bros. She then was employed as Director of the Wayne County Unit of the American Cancer Society for fifteen years. She also worked in the N.C. American Cancer Society office in Raleigh as Director of Administration. Ava was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and organist for the Wayne County chapter for several years, and served as Grand Organist for the Grand Chapter of N.C. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where in her younger years she taught Sunday School and more recently volunteered at the reception desk. A graveside service will be Friday, July 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Willow Dale Cemetery followed by a service to celebrate Ava’s life at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Robert Bardin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in McChesney Hall. Ava is survived by her daughter, Ava Ellen J. Eubanks and husband Phillip of Goldsboro; son, Steven Walter Jackson of Reno, Nevada and her beloved cat, Diana. In addition to her parents, Ava was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Ray Jackson and John Walter White and her brother Walter B. Crumpler, Jr. The family request memorial donations in Memory of Ava may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.
