Arthur’s Obituary Kinder-Homegoing Services for Arthur Leon Spears, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Leblanc Pentecostal Church. Rev. Alfred Gibson and Rev. Larry Talent will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes. The family will receive visitors at Leblanc Pentecostal Church on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 5-9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service. Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved to help people and never once complained. Leon was a generous and loving man. He loved drinking coffee, mowing grass, being a mechanic, and enjoyed cooking. His family says, he made the best gumbo. Leon enjoyed spending time with his family and always made sure he made time for everyone. He served our country in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Knox as a cook. Leon was a man of strong faith and was very proud of his Pentecostal heritage. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish Leon’s memory include his wife, Jo Lynn Spears of Deridder; one son, Darryl Gibson and fiancée, Brittany, of Deridder; four daughters, Janna Spears Evey and husband, Doug, of Ragley, Jessica Leblanc and husband, Bill, of Westlake, Jennifer Gibson and fiancé, Timothy, of Deridder, and Josie Gibson and fiancé, Ramie, of Deridder; five brothers, Jesse Spears and wife, Marie, Dan Spears and wife, Brenda, Richard Spears and wife, Shelia, Gerald Spears and wife, MayMay, and Paul Spears and wife, Nan, all of Kinder; thirteen grandchildren; and caretaker and friend, Marie Ashworth. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Katherine Spears; three brothers, Johnny, Donald Wayne Sr. and Bill Spears; and one sister, Mary Spears. Read More
