Obituary Alice Grace Holm, 93 of Denver, Colorado and formerly of New Hartford, Iowa passed away on June 4, 2019, at the Harvard Square Retirement & Assisted Living in Denver. Alice was born on April 5, 1926, in Aplington, Iowa, the daughter of Harm and Olga (TerHark) Bakker. She attended rural school in the Aplington area. After her schooling she helped her parents on their farm and later did housekeeping for area families. Alice was united in marriage to Holger L. Holm on October 15, 1946, at the Christian Reformed Parsonage in Austinville. Alice helped Holger with their tank truck business until they sold the business. She then worked at Kwik Star in New Hartford, at the New Hartford Schools and then the Little House Caf in New Hartford. Holger passed away on May 23, 1995. Alice loved growing and tending to her flowers in her yard. Alice and Holger enjoyed bowling, square dancing and playing cards with their friends. She was a den leader for Cub Scouts when the kids were younger. Alice is survived by a son, LaVern (Bonnie) Holm of Parkersburg; a daughter, Carolyn (Tom) Harkness of Denver, Colorado and a son, Richard (Sandy) Holm of Waverly; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Andrea) Holm; Kelly (John) Carranza; Amy (Kirk) Moyle, Merissa (Greg) Winter, Tommy (Leigh) Harkness; Richard (Miwako) Holm Jr.; Kim (Shannon) Rousselow and Karrie (Cory) Holmen; and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Merfeld of Des Moines; and Okelene Heuer of Allison; a brother, Marlin (Renate) Bakker of Cedar Falls and a sister-in-law, Helen Bakker of Aplington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Holger Holm; and three brothers, Fred, John and Herman Bakker. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls.
