Virginia’s Obituary Virginia Lee Shafer MacDonald went to join her husband, Robert, and be with her Lord on April 9, 2019 in Bethany, Oklahoma. Virginia was born on August 20, 1930 in Monaca, PA to Robert and Eva Shafer. She was preceded in death by her sister, Roberta and brother, Robert. She graduated from Monaca High School and Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. Virginia worked as an RN before becoming the mother of Paul, Robin and Gerald. She lived in Newtown Square, PA for 27 years before retiring to Ft. Myers. After 28 years as a resident of Ft. Myers, Virginia moved in the spring of 2018 to Oklahoma to be near family. Along with her three children, she is also survived by four grandchildren: Robert MacDonald, Renae Dodson, Madeline Craig and Eva MacDonald as well as three great-grandchildren, Naomi, Maddox and Wesley. Virginia was devoted to her family and to her church, N. Ft. Myers Presbyterian Church. Donations in her name can be made to the church. The family would like to thank the members of Virginia’s church for the love and care they extended to her as well as the staff of Southern Plaza in Bethany, OK, for their care of Virginia during the last year. Virginia will be buried in Sarasota Veterans’ Cemetery with her husband of 60 years. Read More
