Carolyn J. “Granny” Cox, age 72, a resident of McDonald, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 in a Chattanooga hospital. Granny, as she was affectionately known was the daughter of the late Frances Westmoreland Frederick and Lawrence Frederick. Her husband, Robert “Joe” Cox, her grandson, Wesley Grant, her sister, Marsha McDaniel and her brother, Michael Frederick also preceded her in death. Granny served in the Bradley County School System in several school cafeterias with over 25 years of service. She enjoyed traveling including going to the beach and to the mountains in the fall. More than anything, she loved being with her family and her grandchildren. Granny was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church where she was very active especially working with the youth. Survivors include her sons, Robert A. Cox and his wife Valorie of Apison, Tennessee and Joseph C. Cox and his wife Tasha of McDonald, her grandchildren, Colby, Jessica and her husband Justin, Lorin, Jenni and Sam, 1 great grandson of the way, Carson Wayne and several nieces and nephews also survive. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 1:00 P. M. at the Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Shane Williams and Reverend Gary Thacker officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
