Velma Frazier Fitzgerald,65 of Utica departed this life Monday April 13,2020. Velma was full of life, and had profound love and admiration for her family. But most importantly, she loved the Lord. She was born and raised in Utica, New York, to the late Nathaniel, and Eva Frazier. Graduated from Utica Free Academy. Married to her loving husband Donald (Don) Fitzgerald who preceded her death on December 14, 2016. Velma was dedicated employee of Spectrum for over 41 years of faithful service. Everything she did, was done in love, and she loved her career and the lifelong friends she made. Velma lived a full life, she loved her children and grandchild the most. No matter what the need or problem was, Velma (grandma) was always the solution. This steadfast caring, nurturing, characteristic of hers didn’t cease with her family! She was the rock and fortress to anyone in need. She taught her children the same morals and values she was raised on. “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” (Romans 12:10) Velma showered her love on everyone, and everyone adored her in return. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Beloved star Velma, leaves to celebrate and cherish her life: her loving sons Darian, Donald Jr, (DJ) Corey, and her daughter Jeanette. Her sisters: Rosetta Johnson, Joanne Joyner (Ronald), Gail Frazier, Jeanette Frazier, and Atha Turner. Her loving grandchild: Jared “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26) In Love, Wisdom, & Zeal, Danielle Frazier “For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.” (SONG OF SOLOMON 2:11-13) As per the guidelines of the CDC and Governor’s order, the family honored her at a private graveside ceremony where she was laid to rest in New Forest Cemetery. Sympathies message

  1. Oh Sweet Velma, so sad to read this! I worked for the same company as you and covered when you were out for a few weeks. We also worked together a few times. I loved finding your colorful glasses in your drawer, they always made me smile. You had so many customers that loved you and looked forward to seeing you. You were a true part of your community. Velma, your voice, smile, and laughter will be missed! I hope you are smiling, laughing, and enjoying your time with the Lord. Rest In Peace.
