Thurman Joseph Washington June 25, 1948 – April 12, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Washington,Thurman Joseph (Age 71) of Indian Head, Maryland Thurman Joseph Washington was born on June 25, 1948 to the late Henry Sylvester and Annie Aline Washington in Bryans Road, Maryland. On April 12, 2020, he peacefully transitioned into eternal rest. Thurman was educated in the Charles County public schools and attended Pomonkey High School. He had a passion for driving buses and worked for Willis Johnson of Acco Bus Service. Thurman had “his” bus and no one else drove it but him. He drove for at least 40 years until health wouldn’t allow him to do so. He was a people person and was loved by everyone. If you met him and didn’t like him, there was something wrong with you! When he wasn’t driving “his” bus, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Thurman is survived by his wife, Denice E. Washington and daughter, Tyrensa Littlejohn. Also surviving are sisters, Helen Washington and Barbara Heard, brothers, Henry Jr, Vincent, Michael, Clyde, Lewis and Eric Washington, sisters in law, Wanda Dixon, Victoria Johnson, Mercedes Wood, Laurie Washington, Anita Washington, brothers in law, Michael Winkey Gerard Heard, Sr., John Kevin, Melvin, and Larry Johnson, favorite niece, Sheldale Washington, and a host of other nieces and nephews, best friend: Tommy Wood, special friend, Mr. A. Confidant : Willis Johnson and many other friends. In addition to his parents, Thurman joins in glory sister, Ruthann Washington, and mother and father-in-law, Calvin and Delores Johnson. His viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am on Friday, April 24, 2020, Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland. Due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid-19, the service will be limited to the immediate family only.
