Obituary for Shiv Kumar Sangar Shiv Kumar Sangar, 83, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview following a battle with his illness. He was a loving husband to Rama Sangar; devoted father to Ajay (Sukhi) Sangar, Dr. Atul Sangar, and Vivek Sangar; and cherished grandfather of Andrew, Sara, and Kiran. Shiv immigrated to the US in 1963, where he was a teacher’s assistant at the University of Michigan, while he achieved a Master’s degree in Architecture. Upon completion of his Master’s, he worked as an architect in Chicago on various projects, including The Sears Tower, an FBI building, and the Skokie second district court house, to name a few. Following more than a decade of working for private companies, Shiv was hired on with the US Navy’s Public works division, where he worked in San Francisco and the Great Lakes Naval Air station for over 27 years. His expertise helped design multiple military installations for the United States. Throughout the majority of his career, Shiv delved into his passion for real estate as an agent, which he participated in until this year, 2020. Shiv, being the first of his family to immigrate to the United States, was an integral part in helping his brothers and sisters emigrate through sponsorship. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending prayer ceremonies, and watching his favorite sports teams (Bulls, Bears, Cardinals, Michigan Wolverines). Shiv was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and community. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Sangar family will be mourning their loss privately, although the service will be live streamed.
