Sweet, Loving, & Kindhearted Lady Shirley Fortner, 73, of Waynesville, passed away on April 16, 2020 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Myrtle Rathbone; her first husband, Frank Evans; her second husband, George Lee Fortner; daughter, Shirley Ann Moore; grandson, Christopher Neal Evans; and brother, James Robert Rathbone. Shirley is survived by daughter, Donna Moody; sons, Anthony (Sheila) Evans and Lee Evans; twin brother, Jerry Rathbone; sisters, Marie Henry, Joann Green, Janet (Richard) Messer, and Margaret Rathbone all of Waynesville; grandchildren, Amber, Shane, Kenneth Jr., Brittany, Scarlett, Aleisha, Levi, and Lamista; great grandchildren, Jordan, Kaylee, Isabella Aliyah, Bentley, Carson, and Nathan; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. Shirley worked as a CNA until she was unable to work. She loved to garden, sew, and clean. Shirley enjoyed flowers with yellow roses being her all time favorite. Above all, she loved her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Shirley was loved deeply and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A private family funeral service will be held and a public drive thru visitation will take place at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service on Monday, April 20, 2020 from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm. Burial will take place at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
