Royce Rodgers Layton November 08, 1934 – April 21, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card LAYTON- Mr. Royce Rodgers Layton age 85 of Keego Road passed away Tuesday April 21, 2020 in a Pensacola, Florida hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Brantley, Alabama, A former resident of Montgomery. Alabama and a long time resident of Brewton, Alabama. Mr. Layton was a member of the Brewton First United Methodist Church, He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Mr. Layton retired from AT&T with 30 years of service, with his final project involving fiber optic service to the Brewton area. Mr. Layton started Brewton Air Conditioning, Inc. in 1975, as offshoot of electrical contracting with his four sons. Throughout his life, he enjoyed wood working, being involved with Brewton Youth Football and the Boy Scouts of America. In his retirement, Mr. Layton became very involved with the L-Pond Hunting and Fishing Club Community in Castleberry, AL where he was a long time member. Survivors: Wife of 64 years- Robbie Joyce Akers Layton of Brewton, Alabama (4) Sons- Steven (Vivian) Layton of Brewton, Alabama Mike (Sherry) Layton of Brewton, Alabama Andy (Karen) Layton of Milton, Florida Kenny (Angie) Layton of Brewton, Alabama (7) Grandchildren- Rebecca Ann Layton Grissett, Laura Elizabeth Layton Allen, Emily Frances Layton Sasser, Catherine Layton Gardner, Donna Michelle Layton, Wesley Layton, Andrew Howell (7) Great Grandchildren ***Preceded in death by: Parents- Royce Fayette and Fannie Rodgers Layton (2) Sisters- Sarah Holland, Frances Erickson Grandchildren- Neil Layton Graveside Services are scheduled for Friday afternoon April 24, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Union Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery Brewton, Alabama with WILLIAMS MEMORIAL CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME OF BREWTON, ALABAMA DIRECTING.
