Obituary Rosie Mae “Sista Rosie” “RosieMae” Walker was born November 27, 1932, in Lea Ridge, Arkansas to the union of Joe and Ethel(Jimmerson) Lea. She was in Holy Matrimony with Robert Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada from 1960-1970. She later married, Lawrence Walker of Carthage, AR from 1980-2000, in which both proceed her in death. Mother Rosie professed her Love for Christ at a very young age. Mother Rosie attended Marks Memorial Church of God In Christ for many years. Once she moved to Illinois, she joined, Mount Moriah COGIC in Centreville, IL. Mother Rosie Mae was a multi-talented individual, Rosie’s Homemade Soup was one of a kind, a crowd favorite, many would come near and far to taste Mother Rosie’s delicious masterpieces. Chef Boy-R-Mae we would call her. Mother Rosie absolutely loved cooking, so many mouthwatering dishes coming from her kitchen, from handpicked greens, slow-cooked pork, early morning breakfasts, always attracted the neighbors in the community, loads of holiday soul food for fifteen children and their families, contributed to many potlucks at the church, she just loved filling up bellies. Mother Rosie completed her education in the small homely town of Carthage, Arkansas. She was employed doing housekeeping and cooking, for many years around town, until her health started failing. Rosie Mae Walker was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother before passing. She was friendly, a singer & full of jokes and absolutely loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mother Rosie Mae never failed to help those in need, she treated her neighbors like family, no one would question her kindness and joy for helping others, for it was instilled in her heart at a very young age, through Christian values. She may have loved helping others, but she also loved to shop. You could always find her shopping on HSN or QVC long enough before changing her mind and giving it all away. You can say many things about Mother Rosie, but she liked what she liked and if she made up her mind that she didn’t like it anymore, it’s gone, until she sees it again and decides she wants it back. That’s Mother Rosie for you, to her children she will giveth until she forgot she gave it to them, and she would taketh away. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many times, the grands would barge into her room to greet their granny, and there they would often catch her watching In the Heat of The Night, Channel 2 News, or Bonanza. She met them with welcoming arms where they would chat, play and eat all of her expensive snacks. She Loved talking on the phone, even though she would dial the wrong numbers often, she mastered the kitchen but rebuked the iPhone lol. Rosie Mae would give her heart and soul to any stranger to help their plight. This is what she will be remembered for, for this is what made her loved by so many. On Wednesday, April 09, 2020, at 2:25 pm, Rosie Mae Walker, was set free from any earthly pain and suffering as her Children, Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren watched from their iPhones/ iPads via SLU care; due to the pandemic at hand COVID-19, although no one could be by her side during this traumatic time she had Jesus to walk with her. Rosie Mae was preceded by her beautiful mother, Ethel John Collins; lovely daughter, Shelia Michelle Jackson; along with one brother, Diamond Lea and two grandchildren. Mother Rosie’s memory will be carried on by her remaining fourteen children, the following include daughters with spouses: Lavern (Clarence Sr.) Magee of Chicago, IL; Patsy (Melvin Sr.) Douglas of O’Fallon, IL; Shirley Mae Williams of Centreville, IL; Jacqueline Denise Williams of Fordyce, AR; Janice (Mark)Walton of Carthage, AR & Saint Louis, MO; Stacey Williams of Washington Park, IL; Rosanda (Darron I) Suggs of Washington Park, IL; her sons with spouses are listed as followed: Joe Diamond Lea of Fordyce, AR; James Jeff Williams Sr. of Centerville, IL; Charles Ray Williams Sr of North Little Rock, AR; Andrew (Tameka) Williams of New Orleans, LA; Robert (Rontunda) Williams Jr of North Little Rock, AR; Donald (E’mita) Williams Sr of Belleville, IL; Allen (Ethel) Williams of East Saint Louis, IL; her remaining siblings are listed as followed: one brother, Robert D. Lea of Chicago, IL; one sister, Mattie Ruth Smith of Fordyce, AR. Also, to be mentioned, her beloved special cousins, Brother Harvey (Gwendolyn) Jimmerson of Benton, AR. Honorably mentioned are the 46 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grand Children, 3 Great-Great Grand Children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved and will miss her dearly. Special Thanks for two of her children: Shirley Williams and James Williams, who lived with and took great care of their beloved mother through the remainder of her years.
