Rita was born on August 30, 1938 in Asmara, Eritrea (Ethiopia) to her Italian parents, the late Maria and Adolfo Maresi. She was the wife of Robert (Bob) Jones (Johnson City, TN), and the loving mother of sons Robert Jones, Jr. (Tina) of Orlando, FL, Richard Jones (Shannon) of Cary, NC, and daughter Lara Stephenson (Jay) of Camden, SC. She was also the proud Nonna to grandchildren Tyler Jones, Haleigh Jones, Isabella Stephenson, and John Stephenson. Rita met Bob in Asmara and they were married on June 7, 1964. They eventually moved to Evanston, IL where their children were all born. They also lived in Bourbonnais, IL, Camden, SC and Johnson City, TN. She loved to spend time traveling, especially in the area of Ravenna, Italy, where her family originated. Rita was always happy to share a story about her past trips and share the traditions and culture of her Italian heritage with her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was proud of everything they all had accomplished. A private family service was held on April 14, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Camden, SC. Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, managed arrangements.
