He was born November 8, 1938, in Campbell Co., TN, the son of Richard and Geneva (Walker) Phillips. Richard built and sold primitive furniture for approximately 30 years and was an avid NASCAR fan. He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Dunlow of Greenfield; two sons, Greg (Penny) Phillips of New Lebanon, Richard Kerns of Oregon; nine grandchildren, Jenny (Jason) Howland, Steven Phillips, Mercedes Johnson, Wayne Duncan, Jessica Penwell, Rem Skeens, Jacqueline Penwell, Cody Kerns, Dalton Kerns; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Johnny (Jane) Phillips of Jacksboro, TN; one sister, Judy Hobbs, Alabama and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith (White) Phillips, second wife, Brenda (Howland) Phillips and both parents. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private visitation will be held at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield, followed by cremation.
