Richard’s Obituary Richard P. Smith, 90, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020. Beloved father of three children, Jeff (Melissa) Smith, Brenda Smith, and Dr. Dave (Ruth Ann) Smith. He is survived by sister Julie (Ken) Pyle, grandchildren Samantha, Quinn and Zachary Smith, granddaughter Jackie Smith, great granddaughter Bella Smith, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Dick was born in Delphi, Indiana. The navy took him to Rhode Island, where he met Martha Eddy, his wife of 50 years, who preceded him in death in 2004. Dick was a veteran of the Korean War and had the great pleasure to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington DC several years ago. Dick was a talented saxophone player who loved making music with numerous big band organizations in the Cincinnati area, including the Maple Knoll Band and the Monday Night Big Band. Dick worked in market research for the Dow Chemical company for 40 years. Funeral services for Richard P. Smith will be held for the family privately due to current restrictions of gathering by the state; however, a memorial service will be planned for after the restrictions are lifted.
