She was born in Englewood New Jersey to the late William and Juanita Pegeese. Natalie’s childhood years were spent in Englewood where she was raised and educated. Natalie was a devoted wife and mother. She always put the needs of her family before her own. Being around her sisters and brothers at family gatherings were extremely important to her. More importantly, her Dad, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins rounded out the family group. This close-knit network of families in the Englewood area make us what we are today and always—–family. Natalie married the love of her life, Thomas Gantt and from this union one daughter was born, Brenda. When her husband died, extended family including her daughter Brenda lived together. As time passed, the family increased to include granddaughter Sharon, niece Tanya and nephew Charlie. Moving on, great grandchildren Rozlyn, Robyne and Rashawn and nieces Ayesha and Jeanaya became a part the household. Every single person had a place in her heart and she was a staunch supporter of everyone. Natalie joined the Shiloh AME Zion Church and was an active member for many years. She took great pride in being a member of the Gospel Choir. She spent the last few years of her life at the Atrium Nursing Home where everyone knew her. Friends and family marveled at her tenacity, good humor and wit. She had a word for everyone and brought laughter on every turn; especially when a man entered the room. Natalie was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Gantt, daughter Brenda Jackson, her parents, sisters Madelyn Saffold, Virginia Mitchell, brothers William Pegeese and David Pegeese. To cherish and celebrate her memory she leaves granddaughter Sharon Bean (Michael), great grands Rashawn, Rozlyn, Robyne; great great grand Zayir; nieces Tanya Mitchell, Jeanaya Knox, Ayesha Mitchell; nephews Charlie Mitchell, Toryne Carter, sister-in-law Gloria Pegeese; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her love of life and her family was always paramount. Her sense of humor, her smile, her laughter and spunk for living will resonate with those who loved her.
