Obituary Mildred “Millie” Grace Peterson Johnson, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16th, 2020 with her daughter Lori by her side. Millie was born April 14th, 1927 in the Bronx, NY to Swedish immigrants Ernest Harold Peterson and Euphemia Selementia Anderson. She grew up in Rego Park, NY and graduated from Forest Hills High School. Millie met Roy Oscar Johnson at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Corona, NY where they were married on April 17th, 1949. They went on to start a life together in New Hyde Park, NY. She worked as a secretary for Standard Oil (Esso-Exxon) in Rockefeller Center, NY, then in the seventies they moved to Lake Placid, NY where they purchased and ran Linen N’ Things, which they later turned into a children’s store, Farmor’s Kids. After Roy’s death in 2004, she moved to Danbury, CT to live with her daughter Lori’s family. Family, friends, and faith were everything to “Farmor/Mormor” (Grandmother in Swedish). She loved games, puzzles, walks around Mirror Lake with friends and family. She shared her Swedish heritage and love of cross stitch, leaving behind fond memories, recipes, and mementos. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of Holy Trinity in Saranac Lake, NY and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown, CT, and for many years enjoyed supporting her husband’s work with the Lake Placid Lions Club. She’ll be remembered for her quiet, gracious strength and kindness. Millie was predeceased by her husband Roy, brother Harold, daughter Ruthann, and son Keith. She is survived by her son Ken (wife Carol Johnson) of Steamboat Springs, CO; daughter Lori (husband Ted Flandreau) of Danbury, CT; daughter-in-law Debbie Johnson (husband Keith) of Greeley, CO; grandchildren Nikki (Shawn), Haley (Dave), Kristen (Alex), Kara, Teddy, Grace, Lars, Breckin (Keith), and Kolton; and great-grandchild Oscar. Vila i frid, rest in peace, Farmor. Service will be held 11 am Saturday April 25, 2020 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Newtown CT.
