He was born to the late Beryl and Estella Allinson on June 16, 1931 in Sheridan, AR. Milan was a graduate of Benton High School in 1949. He joined the Air Force in 1951, took basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and advanced training at Oklahoma State University, served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955 at Frances E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Milan attended Draughon’s School of Business. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. Milan coached the girls’ various softball teams, leading one team to win the Senior Girls State Championship. One of his proudest achievements was teaching the preschoolers at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church about Jesus for 49 years, where he also served as a deacon. He traveled and served others as a member of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Teams. Milan was elected Vice president of The Saline County Chapter of the Poet’s Roundtable in 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Allinson, three brothers; Verdun Allinson, Dale Allinson and Boyd Allinson and one sister; Lucile Reed Milan is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Georgia Allinson, two daughters; Anita Davis “Jim” and Laurie Dalton “Bob”; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of family and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
