She departed her life on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Among her favorite things in life were shopping at Walmart, going to her favorite restaurant, Chili’s, and dreaming of becoming a chef. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Michelle Estes of Bowling Green; father, John Holmes of Nashville; one brother, Malik Holmes of Bowling Green; grandfather, Robert T. Bond of Brownsville, TN, a special auntie, Mary Tyus and uncle Michael Gain of Jackson, TN; aunties, Pearl Foots of Racine, WI, Louise Holmes of Milwaukee, WI, Jane McCallhan of Augusta, GA and Donna Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; and special cousin, Teresa Holmes of Madison, WI; along with a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Maya was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Anna Holmes and Melvina J. Bond; grandfather, Leroy Holmes; aunties Nettie Clemon and Barbar Holmes; uncles, Steven Estes, Christopher T. Bond, James Holmes, Terry Holmes, Frederick Holmes, David Lewis and Arthur Lewis. Johnson Vaughn Phelps has been entrusted with arrangements.
