She was born April 3, 1935 in Halifax County, NC to the late Eddie Wash Williams and Pattie Smith. She was a member of Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and the Pinetops Helping Hand Club. Mary leaves to cherish her memories: two sons; Joel Barnes of Rocky Mount, NC, Anthony Barnes of Tarboro, NC, one stepson; Thomas Dickens of Rocky Mount, NC, one daughter; Linda Barnes of Tarboro, NC, one sister; Helen Joyner of Norfolk, VA, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A Private Graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Pineview Cemetery in Pinetops, NC with Words of Comfort by Reverend William Keys.
