Obituary Mamie Thompson Williams 89, of Clarendon died Tuesday March 31, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late William Thompson and Docia Gore and was preceded in death by her loving husband Francis Hugh Williams, two brothers, John T. Thompson, and Garland Thompson, sisters, Eva Thompson and Lela Thompson Floyd Mamie was a faithful member of Pleasant Plains Baptist church where she played the organ for over 25 years. She also worked for many years in the accounting department for Carolina Power and Light before she retired. Survivors include her daughter, Fran Williams (special friend , Gray) of Whiteville; one granddaughter, Lauren Stephens Ward (Brad) of Whiteville; three great granddaughters, Brinkley Ward, McKenna Ward and Sutton Grace Ward of Whiteville. Due to the crowd gathering guidelines a private family graveside service will be held at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery on Friday April 3, 2020 with Dr. David B. Heller officiating. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church @ 31 Pleasant Plains Church Rd.
