June’s Obituary June A. Newlen, 97, of Parsons, passed away at 3:50 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2020, at the Chetopa Manor. June Aline Pepin was born on April 21, 1923, to Walter and Arlene (Carpenter) Pepin in Lawrenceville, West Virginia. As a young girl, June grew up in Lawrenceville and attended school in Grandview, West Virginia. She worked in the Pottery for one year. On December 26, 1942, June and Kenneth T. Newlen were married in Chester, West Virginia. She worked with her husband as a custodian at a bank and a doctor’s office until their retirement in 1985. At that time, the couple moved to Parsons. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Painting was a hobby she enjoyed. June had been a member of the Chester Christian Church in Chester, West Virginia. Survivors include: One daughter – Connie Elliott Three grandchildren – Mike Elliott (Ruth) Kelly Giager (Mike) Megan Elliott (Terry Chisom) Eight great-grandchildren – Taylor Elliott; Dylan, Dawson, Lauren and Lakin Giager; Elias, Breianna and Maria Chisom One great-great-grandson – Harlynn Chisom She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, on February 17, 2015; her parents; one brother and one sister. Following cremation, there will be a private family service with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
