Josephine’s Obituary Josephine Whitley Wiggins, age 76, of Middle, passed away on April 20, 2020. Born in Buncombe County on May 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Talton and Edna Mitchell Whitley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Ray Wiggins and her brother, Billy Talton Whitley. Mrs. Wiggins spent most of her life in Johnston County, living in the Selma, Princeton and Middle communities. A private graveside service will be held in the Bethany and Friends Cemetery near Grantham on Wednesday. Surviving are her son, Dr. Joseph Barber and wife Bonnie Holt Barber of Princeton; her daughter, Crystal Barber and Jason Aycock of Kenly; her brother, Ray Whitley and Libby Russell of Selma; her sister, Dorothy Childers of Atkinson; her grandchildren, Caleb Barber and Makenzie Creech; four step-children, Robert, Rufus, Jr., Lorina and Ricky; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces Our family wishes to say a heartfelt “Thank you” to her former caregivers, Crystal Mills, JoAnn Futch and Joan Hollowell and her most current caregivers at Always Compassionate Family Care in Fremont for all of their love and support shown to our Mother. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
