Obituary Jose Luiz Esteves, 91, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the University Hospital, Newark, NJ. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and came to the Unites States in 1956 and resided in the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ. Jose was a laborer and member of the Heavy & General Construction Laborer Local 472 of Newark, NJ for over 60 years. Jose was an excellent soccer player back in the day and was a lifelong fan of the sport. He took great pride in his garden. He loved to craft. He kept meticulous records and was outstanding with numbers. He was sharp minded until his final days. He will be missed by his family that loved him dearly. Husband of the late Maria do Sacramento Guimaraes Esteves; devoted and loving father of Peter Esteves and his wife Janet, David Esteves and his wife Carmen, Maria Irene Benevides and her husband Joseph, Ana Maria Uzzolino and her husband Peter; cherished grandfather of Jennifer Hemphill and her husband Derek, Peter Uzzolino and his wife Mary, Andrea Abrantes and her husband Andre, Peter Esteves and his wife Maria and Anthony Uzzolino; dear great-grandfather of Noah and Alexa Uzzolino, Luna and Ayla Esteves and Lillie Hemphill. Also survived by many dear relatives and friends. Peter, David and Ana would like to thank their sister, Maria Irene, for all she did for their mother and father over these past years. She did the work of four people and they are eternally grateful to her. Due to the restrictions recently placed on occupancy in public spaces by the State of New Jersey in the ongoing efforts to limits the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Jose’s funeral arrangements are private. Even during times of social distancing, anyone who has suffered a loss deserves love and support more than ever before.
