James’ Obituary James P. Flynn, 66, of Salem, NH passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Sunday, April 12, 2020 while battling cancer. Known to his family and friends as Jim or Jimmy, he was born on July 24, 1953 in Woburn, MA. He was the son of Eva Flynn and the late Bernard Flynn. Jim grew up on Naples Ave. in Woburn, the oldest of 4 brothers. He graduated from Woburn High in 1971 and later graduated from Hesser College. During his 40 years working as a Manufacturing Manager, he touched the lives of the many people he worked with over the years. Jim was a loving and devoted husband and father, married to his wife Brenda on October 6, 1990. Together they had 3 children, Shannon (28), Shelby (24), and Jimmy Jr. (21). He was a supportive father who was proud of his children’s many accomplishments both academically and in their personal lives. Jim found great joy in spending time with his family, relaxing in the back yard, or just watching movies all together, especially Harry Potter. There were a number of family traditions that he awaited in anticipation every year; a few were the family outing to pick apples, going to the 4th of July fireworks, and the ride to see Christmas lights, but most of all was the Super Bowl feast. Jim would sit with the kids and watch the game and enjoy his “Superfood”. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing baseball, hockey and golf but even more, loved watching his children play sports. He was a die-hard Boston sports fan, but the Patriots were his absolute favorite. The highlight of his Patriots’ fandom was his trip to Super Bowl XX in Louisiana with his brother Timmy. A trip he would reminisce about often. Jim had many wonderful memories of childhood vacations at Hampton Beach and of trips to Rhode Island to visit the Flynn family. He also looked forward to poker games with his friends and took great pride in keeping his pool sparkling clean. He loved to read and could solve a word puzzle amazingly fast. Jim is remembered with love by his wife of 30 years, Brenda Flynn, daughters, Shannon Flynn and Shelby Flynn and son, James Flynn Jr., all of Salem, NH, his mother Eva Flynn of Woburn, MA, his three brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Linda Flynn of Westbrook, ME, Timothy and Dorothy Flynn of Wilmington, MA, and Douglas and Colleen Flynn of Wilmington, MA, mother-in-law, Beverly Ouellette of Nashua, NH, sister and brother-in-law, Geline and George Spang of Atkinson, NH, as well as 8 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by father, Bernard Flynn of Lowell, MA, father-in-law, Raymond Ouellette of Nashua, NH and Aunt Anna Balestrietri of Woburn, MA. Due to the current health crisis, the family has decided to hold a celebration of life event at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations In Jim’s name to: The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123 or on-line at Cancer.org for cancer research. Read More
