James A. Golden, 79, passed away April 7, 2020, at his home in Carthage surrounded by his loving family. James was born September 27, 1940, in Washington County, Missouri, to Willie and Roxie (Henson) Golden. He worked in sales/management, managing Sperry New Holland stores and later retiring from AAL/Thrivent. James was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Carthage. He delivered Meals on Wheels for McCune Brooks Hospital for 18 years. James was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was united in marriage to Judith Duensing on April 25, 1970, in Bremen, Kansas. She survives. James is survived by two sons: Greg Golden and wife Denise of Carthage, and Kevin Golden and wife Joy of St. Louis; one daughter: Renée Coursey and husband Brad of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren: Brittany (Stephen), Jared, Brooke, Claire, Daphne, Juliet, Paul, James, Fiona, Titus, Sam, Brody, McGwire, and Kael; five sisters: Ina Kay, Elba Raven, Melba Beck, Mary Dooley, and Beverly Wells; and two brothers: Donald Lee Golden and Gerald Golden. James is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Billie Golden and Alfred Golden. A private family service will be held. Contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Soldiers of the Cross fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
