IRENE WINNIE COX May 19, 1925 – April 13, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card On Monday, April 13, 2020, Irene Winnie Cox, loving wife and mother of two children and many grandchildren, passed away at age 93. Irene was born on May 14, 1926 in Bokchito, OK to Jodie and Myrtle Burke. She attended school until the sixth grade, and then helped pick cotton on her families cotton field. On April 6, 1946, she married Louie Lander Cox. They raised a son and daughter, Keith and Roxane. Irene loved to cook and bake, she made the best cheesy potatoes, chicken dumplings, chocolate pie, lemon meringue pie, sugar cookies, and dump cake. She had a green thumb, and always made sure her yard looked nice – grass cut, trees trimmed, rocks painted, and leaves raked. She was known for her poodles, as she dyed the white one’s different colors for each holiday. Most importantly, she loved her family dearly and made sure that everyone was always taken care of. She was selfless, ensuring that everyone else was okay before checking on herself. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Louie, her father, Jodie, her mother Myrtle, two sisters, and eight brothers. She is survived by her two children, Roxane and Keith, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Due to current events in regards to COVID-19 and mandated congregating limitations, a private graveside services will be held at the McNeal Cemetery on Monday, April 20, 2020. Print Obituary
